Vaccines and Injections

Streu’s Pharmacy is very proud to be playing a key role in the effort to get as many Wisconsinites vaccinated as possible. Our local and independently owned pharmacy has already administered more than 8,000 vaccines – many on-site to residents in the long-term care facilities we serve and to our elderly and high-risk populations.

Pharmacy-administered injections, including vaccines, can be an efficient and effective option for a variety of patients.

PCR testing is the gold standard for diagnosing COVID-19.

PCR testing can be used independently or to confirm rapid test results. It is also commonly recommended if you had a negative rapid test result but still have symptoms of COVID-19. Testing is best done as soon as symptoms start or, if symptom free, 5 days after close contact with someone diagnosed with COVID-19.

Streu’s offers COVID tests with same day results

It can be difficult to know which test to get, how accurate the results will be and whether you’ll have to wait multiple days for results. We are pleased to offer reliable, RT-PCR quality, rapid COVID tests with the new Lumira Dx SAR’s-CoV-2 platform.

  • State-of-the-art testing technology with 97% accuracy from day 1 of symptoms to day 12
  • Same-day testing often available with convenient online scheduling of testing appointments
  • Results in 15 minutes while you wait
  • Can help those who need to be tested for travel, school, event participation or other purposes.

Save a trip to the doctor with our vaccine and injection services

Pharmacy-administered injections, including vaccines, can be an efficient and effective option for a variety of patients. We offer a few different types of long-lasting psychotropic medications to help those suffering from such diagnoses as schizophrenia and bipolar disorder, as well as opioid and alcohol dependence (please note that prescriptions from your health provider are required). We also offer several different, common vaccinations including flu shots and the sometimes hard-to-find shingles vaccine.

We are also pleased to offer these services to residents in the long-term care facilities we serve.

Long-lasting antipsychotic injections

Our compassionate, knowledgeable pharmacy team and nursing staff can provide the following pharmacy-administered injections:

  • Abilify Maintena (aripiprazole), Aristada (aripiprazole), Invega Sustenna (paliperidone), Risperdal Consta (risperidone) and Haldol (haloperidol decanoate) to treat the symptoms of psychotic conditions such as schizophrenia and bipolar disorder as well as other mood and mental health disorders
  • Vivitrol (Naltrexone) to treat opioid and alcohol dependence. It is part of a comprehensive strategy to treat addiction and keep it in remittance. It works by blocking receptors in your brain (for a month at a time), helping prevent relapse. Vivitrol has been proven effective in helping patients stay opioid and alcohol free, and for many people it has literally been a life-saving medication.

Patients and prescribers can call us at 920-593-2460 to speak to with a pharmacist or nurse for more information on these injections and how to go about getting started.

Vaccines

Our friendly, highly skilled pharmacists and nursing staff can administer the following vaccines:

  • Influenza (flu shots) to help protect you from the seasonal flu, which can cause hospitalization and even death. You can view our flu clinic schedule here.
  • Shingrix (shingles vaccine) to provide strong protection against shingles and postherpetic neuralgia (PHN). The CDC recommends getting two doses of Shingrix if you’re a healthy adult over 50.
  • Pneumovax, which can protect against serious infection, such as ear infection, sinus infection, pneumonia, blood infection and meningitis
  • Tetanus Diptheria (Td) vaccine can protect you from tetanus, which causes stiffening muscles and could lead to death, and diphtheria, which can cause difficulty breathing, heart failure, paralysis or death. The CDC recommends this vaccine for those over 7 years old, and it is typically given as a booster dose every 10 years.
  • Tetanus Diptheria Pertussis (Tdap) vaccine can protect you from tetanus and diptheria as well as pertussis, also known as whooping cough. This tetanus shot is sometimes used instead of the Td vaccine.

What you need to know about vaccines & injections

  • Whatever your situation, we will work with your health provider and insurance provider to find the best option for any vaccines and injections you need.
  • Most vaccines and injections are covered by insurance.
  • Walk-ins are accepted for most vaccines and some injections; others require an appointment.
  • Since every patient is different, we encourage you to contact us to discuss your unique situation.
